Come sing in Missa Luba
Missa Luba is an exciting Congolese style Mass, written by Father Guido Haazen, a Belgian missionary in the Congo in the 1950s, who wrote it for the choir that he founded there. Missa Luba is scored for voices, drums, and tenor solo, and uses African style call and response, and other traditional singing patterns.
Missa Luba will be the closing piece of a Choral Festival concert during the Columbus Arts Festival on Friday June 6 at First Congregational Church, 444 E Broad Street, Columbus. The singers will include members of the Columbus Women's Chorus, the choir of First Congregational Church, the Columbus Children's Choir, the Dublin Singers, and many other interested people from central Ohio, all coming together to form a community chorus of over 100 singers.
All singers and drummers are welcome to join in rehearsing and performing Missa Luba.
